I'm often asked, "How many projects are you involve in?"
I usually just tell people that I'm just a guitarist. Sometimes when people learn that I’m involved in many different projects, they seem to be inspired to create new ideas, projects, collaborate and set new goals, which is great to hear! It’s not about competition, bragging, or trying to become popular, it’s all about growing as a person, an artist and achieving your goals. One of my favorite quotes is, “If you’re not growing, you’re dying.” So, if it motivates and inspires some people, here is a list of some of my current projects that I’m currently working on. Performing music- as a solo, duo and/or full band. Performing about 150-200 shows per year. https://www.facebook.com/pg/JoeFlipMusic/events Songwriting- My last collaboration album with Tony Cuchetti, “Tin Can Tunes,” was a lot of fun and a great learning experience on how to promote albums, track its progress, track radio charts, etc. The album was nominated for some awards and did well on the radio charts. I’m working on a new album soon, so stay tuned… Some highlights from the album The album charted #2 in the world on the Roots Music Report Acoustic Blues Radio Charts My song, “Mess Around” charted #1 in the world on the Roots Music Report Acoustic Blues Radio Charts Endorsements: I’m happy to have some official endorsements with some great music companies that help support my mission. https://www.joeflipmusic.com/endorsements.html I’m also hired as a guitarist for the Disco Kings band. It’s a Disco Tribute band, created by the legendary Junior Trejo from the Westside Band. https://www.discokingz.com/ I created and perform in the annual Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute Show. Our 5th annual SRV tribute show will be April 18 at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, MN. It’s been nominated twice for best tribute act of the year by the Midwest CMA. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/stevie-ray-vaughan-tickets-85179852231 I created the annual “90’s R Us” 90s tribute show. The next show will be May 8 at the Cabooze in Minnapolis, MN. https://www.joeflipmusic.com/90srus.html Hayburner Guitars- Mike Jenson and I are co-owners of the company, where we take antique oil cans and turn them into electric guitars and sell them. So far, we’ve sold about 40 of them all over the world, from oil can banjos, guitars, bass guitars and an oil can speaker. http://www.hayburnerguitars.com/ https://youtu.be/7R9pppAqvY8 Promotion- I’m occasionally asked to help musicians and businesses with their social media, album promotion, websites, and concert promotion. Weddings- I have a business where I offer DJ and Live Music for weddings and special events. https://www.joeflipmusic.com/weddings.html Non Profit- I teach and promote the Blues For Kids program for a 501c3 non profit organization called Discover Music. I’ve offered the course at many schools fairs, and festivals. https://www.joeflipmusic.com/giving-back.html https://www.discovermusicnow.org/ Private Music Lessons- I offer some private lessons for guitar and beginner harmonica. I’m also a volunteer commissioner at the Cottage Grove Arts Commission https://www.cottagegrovemn.gov/government/boards_and_commissions/arts_commission.php I’m also a proud father to a healthy and happy boy which is my biggest accomplishment and priority. I’ve definitely had my share of mistakes, but nobody is perfect, and if you focus on improving your weaknesses, it will make you a stronger, better person. Life will always have ups and downs, challenges, and hurdles, but I believe if you are surrounding yourself with the right people, constantly trying to grow, stay positive and hungry, do what you love, be nice to others, then everything always works out. I still have a lot of future goals that aren’t listed yet, so stay tuned. I’m just getting started… What goals do you have? Are you tracking your progress? I would love to hear what you are working on. Feel free to email me anytime for any questions. I am always happy to offer help if I can. Love and peace- Joe Flip
